2.0 MODULE SYNOPSIS
This module has been designed to help foster of sense of care and concern among us for our community, environment and the world at large. This module will help develop us’ sense of personal and social responsibility. We will learn through participating in a community service experience and will have the opportunity to use their skills and knowledge in real-life situations.
3.0 MODULE OBJECTIVES
1) To inculcate a sense of Social Responsibility.
2) To promote the culture of caring and respect towards all members of society.
3) To make them responsible citizens of this country.
4) To understand the community around them.
5) To understand themselves in relation to their community
4.0 LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of this course, we should be able to:
1) Develop relevant communication skills for collaborative work with community/society.and/or to work in a career that will make contributions to society.
2) Develop a holistic awareness of the variety of problems (e.g. the environment, poverty, social discrimination) that call for action; critically analyze how such problems should be approached and how to solve them scientifically.
3) Apply information management skills and strengthen their lifelong academic learning.
4) Develop in themselves a strong sense of social responsibility and be able to portray leadership qualities and being able to work effectively as a team.
5.0 KNOWLEDGE I GAINED IN THIS MODULE:
5.1 Lifelong Learning
This module required us to be more independent and able to extract the information from Ti-Rattana Welfare Society that we have visited. For me, I have learnt how to propose activity that link to our field which is construction that help the children to enhance their vision for their future career. During the activities, I am be nominated as one of the game master therefore I am responsible to assigned task to all members in order to achieve the goal of our community service project. Throughout the activity, I also learnt to allocate each of the tasks in order to derive the completion date of our activities as we are only given 10 weeks of preparation.
5.2 Thinking and Problem Solving Skills
Thinking and problem solving skills are gained during the discussion with my group member in order to provide most effective idea in proposing our project.
5.3 Communication skills
During the discussion session, we have communicated with our lecturer in order to provide a more viability of our propose idea towards the improvement of the gaming activities to the children. Throughout the communication, we have actually learnt the things that we need to concern in order to prevent any risk or unforeseen circumstances that may cause our project to be non-viable.
5.4 Interpersonal skills
I am able to practice leadership skills, especially during the initial stage of ours project. I have learnt how to distribute the assignment workload to my team member to carry out the project in order to achieve the objective of this project which is to create value for the orphan children future career.
In conclusion, learning by taking new task is crucial in pursuing my career as Project Management in the construction field. As in the future, various unfamiliar tasks will be assigned and it depends on how we take it as a challenge to improve our career.

CONSTRUCTION SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT (MGT60803/QSB 2433) - Elective

2.0 Module Synopsis
This module is applicable to us who wish to enhance their knowledge of other job opportunities available beside the typical Quantity Surveyor’s scope of works. Construction Supply Chain (CSC) is the network of organizations involved in different stages (the upstream and downstream) of processes of delivering goods or services. Construction Supply Chain (CSC) is the coordination of material, information and financial flows between and among all the participant organizations. The module delivers the overview Supply Chain (SC) theory and example of best practices of the industries’ SC which would be applied and adapted by the CSC and focuses on the fundamental tasks with in a supply chain cycle such as procurement, sourcing, outsourcing and performance improvement. It also covers the current trends within the CSC such as lean and agile concepts, relationship management and corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Module Teaching Objectives
The teaching objectives of the module are:
1. To enhance the awareness of other job opportunities within the construction industry.
2. To identify and critically analyse the current issues within the CSC.
3. To apply and adopt best practice of other industry supply chain management (SCM) into construction supply chain management (CSCM).
Module Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this module, we will be able to:
1. Identify the issues within CSC.
2. Analyse the performance of a CSC.
3. Apply SCM theory and best practice in the CSC.
4. Develop a framework and strategies in improving the CSC performance.
5. Generate a comprehensive report of a construction industry case and present the report in a team or independently.
5.0 KNOWLEDGE I GAINED IN THIS MODULE:
5.1 Lifelong Learning
This module required us to extract information from social media which is important in the cycle of construction industry. For me, I have learnt how to manage the supply of material in the construction although is only a theoretical basis. This theoretical knowledge might help me to handling all the construction waste that usually happens in the construction industry. Throughout this module, I have learnt some new knowledge during my first course work which is to propose a building based on the market segmentation that is crucial on behave of the developer.
5.2 Thinking and Problem Solving Skills
Thinking and problem solving skills are gained during the discussion with my group member for my second coursework in order to provide more precise information regarding to BIM software.
5.3 Communication skills
During the assignment session, we have communicated with our lecturer in order to provide clearer information due to the facts that social media provide different perspective and thoughts from different author. Throughout the communication, we have actually learnt the things that we need to concern in order to prevent any risk that may cause our course work to be non-viable.
5.4 Interpersonal skills
